JAMES GROSSMITH, conductor, studied at the University of Cambridge and under Martyn Brabbins at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, where he was awarded the Silver Medal of the Worshipful Company of Musicians.

James now combines his work as Chorusmaster of Scottish Opera and Director of Chapel Music at the University of Glasgow with his work as a freelance conductor.   His recent work with Scottish Opera includes conducting the company in performances of Handel's Tamerlano, Donizetti's Lucia Di Lammermoor, Wier's A Night at the Chinese Opera, Chimarosa's The Secret Marriage, Mozart's Seraglio,  and Stravinsky's Pulcinella.

James' future engagements include conducting Scottish Opera in performances of Mozart's Cosi fan tutte.
